Jamie Lawson is a designer and painter who’s lived in Hamilton for 21 years. He briefly attended McMaster University in Hamilton for Fine Arts, before apprenticing at a small design company, where he would discover the building blocks of a design career, later founding Poly Studio, a multi-disciplinary creative design studio in Hamilton. At Poly he combines elements of contemporary design and commercial culture, typography, bold colours and forms. His work runs the gamut from packaging, book covers, lettering and editorial illustration for clients such as The National Ballet School, Hamilton Brewery, Merit Brewing Co. St. Joseph Hospital, the McMaster Museum of Art, The Globe and Mail and the Hamilton Junos Committee. His recent work includes being the solo designer and art director for the CBC book What’s Your Story? / Raconte ton histoire: A Canada 2017 Yearbook / L’album souvenir Canada 2017 and the art work for the AGH World Film Festival & The AGH Book Hamilton Now.
